AGP Master 1WS Read
Common Options : Enabled, Disabled
Details
In most motherboards, the AGP bus-mastering device waits for at least 2 wait states or
AGP clock cycles before it starts a read transaction. This BIOS feature
allows you to reduce the delay to only 1 wait state or clock cycle.
So, for
better AGP read performance, enable this option. Disable it only if you
experience weird graphical anomalies like wireframe effects and pixel artifacts after enabling this option.
Note, however, that some motherboards apparently have an AGP
master read latency of 0. So, enabling the AGP Master 1WS Read in
this case will actually increase the latency by 1 wait state and
reduce performance. Although that's really quite unlikely, that's
what their manuals say.
Therefore, check your motherboard manual to see if the
manufacturer has implemented the first (and more common)
interpretation of the AGP Master 1WS Read BIOS feature or the second
one. Either way, the lower the AGP master read latency, the higher
the read performance of the AGP bus. |
