This is where you will find all beta releases of the Pocket PC GAPI Benchmark. As we work to add more tests and functionality to the benchmark, there will inevitably be bugs and other problems related to the differences between the three different Pocket PC processors. This is because we don't have access to all the Pocket PCs out there.

As such, your help will be invaluable in helping us make all versions of the GAPI Benchmark compatible with all Pocket PCs. If you are interested in beta-testing new versions of GAPI Benchmark, please feel free to download the latest beta version of the benchmark below and tell us if you face any problems running it.

Use & Distribution

This benchmark is freeware so you don't have to worry about evaluation periods or registration. Heck, we don't even force you to view Adware pop-ups! :)

You are also free to distribute this benchmark to whoever you want. However, we ask that you distribute them exactly as they have been packaged by us. Please do NOT change the contents of the archive, repackage the files or distribute them individually.

This benchmark is available in both RAR and ZIP compressed packages. Each package will contain the following files :-

• GAPI Benchmark 1.0 (the benchmark itself)
• gx.dll (GAPI 1.2)

If any of the above contents are missing, please report this matter to us!

Note that unlike the release versions of the benchmark, no documentation is provided with the beta versions.

Latest Beta

The latest beta version of GAPI Benchmark is the GAPI Benchmark 1.5 Prerelease Version.

New Features In This Beta

• A new fractal test that tests the Pocket PC's video quality and memory speed.
• Results are now recorded in frames per second (fps)
• The screen is now cleared after each test.

Requirements

Beta versions of the GAPI Benchmark will run on all Pocket PCs using the StrongARM, MIPS or SH3 processors. If you have any problem running the benchmark, let us know! Your feedback will be invaluable. :)

Please note that all versions of GAPI Benchmark require the presence of GAPI (gx.dll). So, check and make sure you have the latest version of GAPI, which is version 1.2. Certain Pocket PCs may not ship with GAPI installed.

If you don't have GAPI 1.2 installed or if GAPI Benchmark issues an error message about missing components, just copy GAPI 1.2 (included with every GAPI Benchmark package) to your Pocket PC's Windows directory.

Installation

There is no installer for this benchmark so all you need to do is to copy the GAPI Benchmark file to any directory you like. You should then create a link in the Start Menu to the benchmark so that you can access it easily.

Alternatively, you can just copy the GAPI Benchmark file to the Start Menu.

To be safe, you can also copy the included gx.dll file (which is GAPI 1.2) into the Windows directory of your Pocket PC. GAPI Benchmark requires this file to function.

Running The Benchmark

1. Before you run the benchmark, you should soft-reset the Pocket PC so that nothing is running in the background while the benchmark is running.
    
2. Once your Pocket PC has finished initializing, run GAPI Benchmark.
    
3. At the bottom left hand corner, click on "Click here to start" menu button.
    
4. At the top of the menu are the three benchmark test choices. Click on the test name to start the test.
    
5. The benchmark will run and return you the benchmark result at the end of the test.
    
6. If you would like to run another test, it's highly advisable to soft-reset the Pocket PC before you do so, in order to obtain as accurate a result as possible
