The Mouse

The mouse looks quite conventional. Just how you would expect any mouse to look like. The size of the mouse is average and will fit a woman's palm quite nicely.  The dimensions of the mouse is 11cm long x 6cm wide x 3.5cm tall.

However, I have some complaints about its shape. The rounded back of the mouse is a little too pronounced. It did not fit snugly into my palm but instead poked at the center of my palm. As such, prolonged use of the mouse made me feel a little uncomfortable.

But this doesn't mean that it may not suit you. I'll have to admit that I've already been spoiled by Ken's Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer which is extremely ergonomic. In fact, Ken tested the mouse and found that it might be a little too small for guys. So, guys, you might want to go for the bigger mice that, according to Mr. Tay of IMD, are also available. However, we did not receive the bigger mouse for the review.

The mouse has three buttons and a scroll wheel. If you are wondering where the third button is... it's actually the scroll wheel. Yes, it also functions as a button. The scroll wheel is the smooth scrolling type. You won't feel any "tabs" as you roll the scroll wheel. While I personally liked it, it's actually all a matter of preference. Some like to have tabs to avoid overscrolling.

The bottom of the mouse is also pretty standard. But the mouse ball is somewhat interesting. It's black in colour, rough in texture and is a little smaller and lighter than the ball used in my Logitech mouse. We'll explore the mouse ball a little later in this review.

Here are some shots of the mouse ball compartment of the XNTech Play Mouse II which is also pretty standard. Just a note - transparent plastic is used in its rollers.
