Senfu Thermometer

Introduction

In this 'overclocking' era, high temperature or heat is the biggest enemy for all overclockers. You might have a good heatsink from GlobalWin or Alpha cooling your hot processor like Intel Pentium !!! or AMD Athlon; but do you actually know the temperature of your CPU? Is it running below its rated maximum temperature?

Most new motherboards have hardware monitoring features built-in to monitor CPU temperature, system temperature, voltage, fan speed, etc. New Intel processors even have a temperature sensor built into the core. Plus, if your motherboard supports monitoring functions, you will have a pretty accurate temperature readout.

But for AMD fans, the processor does not have any temperature sensor or thermistor in the core. It requires the motherboard to actually support temperature monitoring. Some motherboards manufacturers like ABIT chose to place the thermistor at the center of the socket, like in the KT7. But all current processors are using the new 'flip-chip' design with the core sitting on the top. So, you will need an external thermometer like Senfu's thermometer.
