Ratpadz Mousing Surface

Real World Tests

I've tested the pad with a ball mouse briefly. It provided a smooth but skip-free cursor. I'm actually surprised at what this mouse pad can do even with an optical mouse. Not only does it provide smoother movement, it also provides a skip-free cursor. Even the badly-worn feet on my Intellimouse Optical still glides smoothly on the surface.

Although the mouse pad is thick, the corners are beveled, providing a very comfortable feel. Since this mouse pad is made of plastic, it does not absorb sweat like normal cloth-covered mouse pads.

As for the durability of this mouse pad, it is made up of a hard plastic material which is almost as hard as a typical chopping board. So, it will not break even with some serious torturing. It's also dishwasher friendly! The maintenance guide from Ratpadz.com recommends that you wash the pad using soapy water or some weak cleaner.

Even though this mouse pad is designed for gaming purpose, it's also great for graphics or CAD folks, where pixel per pixel accuracy is required.

Cons

Sadly, this product is not flawless. This mouse pad will warp over time. There's even a guide on how to flatten the mouse pad on their web site! Not only that, the pretty Ratpadz logo will actually fade off. Of course this will not affect the performance of the mouse pad. :)

Conclusion

For RM75, there is nothing to lose. You will definitely love the smoothness of this mouse pad. There are many great mouse pads out there, like Func Surface and the Icemat but nothing as durable or portable or LAN party-friendly as this Ratpadz.

Your expensive mouse definitely deserves to 'glide' on a good mouse pad, instead of all those free cloth-covered mouse pads. Don't get me wrong, it will make you el cheapo mouse glide smoothly too! Three thumbs up for the Ratpadz!
