NCT Noisebuster Extreme! Preview

The Noisebuster Extreme!

The Noisebuster Extreme! is designed and manufactured by Noise Cancellation Technologies, Inc. (NCT) of Stamford, Connecticut. Unlike the Bose QuietComfort, NCT is marketing the Noisebuster Extreme! as a mobile solution for everyone. They designed it so that you can use it everywhere you go and not just in a plane. Of course, they work in airplanes too! :)

That's all well and good but how well does it really work? After all, NCT is offering the Noisebuster Extreme! at a very attractive price of USD 39! This is probably the cheapest pair of ANR headphones around by a significant margin. Did NCT somehow achieved a breakthrough in cost management? Or did they compromised on quality and features?

I will be examining the Noisebuster Extreme! from that angle in the coming weeks with tests both indoors and outdoors as well as an in-flight test session. For now, let's check out the Noisebuster Extreme! package I received from NCT recently.

What You Get

No fancy packaging for the Noisebuster Extreme!. Just the simple cardboard-plastic display package you see below. Kind of reminds me of my He-Man toys. Heheh...

The retail package

Because the package isn't sealed, it's easy to remove the contents. Just slide out the cardboard back and everything's exposed! Let's see what the package contains.

What you get...

Here's the list :-

  • a pair of Noisebuster Extreme! headphones with Audio Enhancer Pack attached
  • a headphone interface cable
  • a belt clip for the Audio Enhancer Pack
  • a dual prong in-flight adapter plug
  • an operating instruction guide
  • two AAA Rayovac Maximum Alkaline batteries

Okay, so it doesn't come with a pouch or other connectors. But what do you expect for USD 39? Let's take a closer look at the parts.
