Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer

Look Ma, I've Got No Balls!!!

Ok, ok. Let’s not let our mind twist around for the moment. The balls I’m referring to is the mouse ball and not… I think I’ll skip explaining that!

Revolutionary Optical Sensors - No Mouse Ball!

The Microsoft IntelliMouse (no nothing to do with Intel there) Explorer is a mouse which is not your ordinary mouse…and the same goes for the cheese eating one too. These Explorers, as you should already know by now, do not use conventional mouse balls to track the user’s movement. Instead, it utilises an optical sensor.

Microsoft named that particular technology as the IntelliEye Optical Technology. Well, it claims that the optical sensor scans the surface at 1,500 times per second, giving the mouse pin-point accuracy.

I do not have a digital camera with me, therefore I am not able to show you any close-up pictures of the mouse. However, you may either surf to Microsoft’s site to check them out or just visit a computer store near you for a demo.
