As you can see, this drive supports RAW writing
and reading! That means it is possible to create clone copies of
any CD you want with this drive!
On the box, it says that the drive supports 16X
writing, 10X rewriting and 40x reading. Supported recording format
are Orange Book Parts 2/3, Track at Once, Disc at Once, Fixed
Packet and Variable Packet. According to Nero's check of the
drive's capabilities, the LTR-16101B also supports Overburning,
BURN-Proof, Disc At Once, Simulation and CD-Text.
Unlike other drives, it only has 2048KB of buffer!
If you are new to the BURN-Proof
technology, you will be wondering why there's only 2MB of
buffer in an age when CD-RW drives come with 4MB or 8MB buffers.
Well, theoretically, with BURN-Proof, you don't
even need a buffer! The 2MB buffer is only there to help reduce
the need to go through the BURN-Proof process of pausing and
resuming the writing process. But personally, I think it's there
because people might not buy the drive if there's no buffer at
all. Heheh...
Alright, alright... On with the tests! |
