The Headset

The QuietComfort headset is attached to its control unit by a two-wire cable connector to both ear cups. The length of this cable is about 97cm (38") long so even if you are very tall, it's long enough for the control unit to be hooked up to the belt or placed inside a pocket. In fact, the cable actually extends down to my knees!

From the control unit, a separate 37cm (15") single-wire cable extends out to a gold plated 3.5mm stereo plug. This is more than enough for most purposes. I found that with the control unit hooked to my belt, I can easily attach the plug to a Pocket PC in my shirt pocket!

The headset and its control unit

The headset itself was designed for comfort. The large ear cups come with soft and very comfortable cushions and the headband was even padded! Although it looks heavy, the headset is actually very light. You won't get a sore neck with this one! ;)

The proper operation of the headset depends on the correct position of the headset. So, take note of the left and right markings Bose printed on the headband, just above the ear cups. If you position the headset wrong (left ear cup on the right ear and vice versa), you won't just get reverse balance like what you would expect with normal headphones. The sound perceived will actually be completely different from the actual sound reproduced by the headset!
