ASUS CUSL2-C

The ASUS CUSL2-C

The CUSL2-C is just like any other Intel 815EP motherboard in the market with all the standard features.

Here are the 'star' features as written on the box :-

  • CNR slot
  • ATA100 support
  • 4 USB ports support
  • AGP 4X Slot

Unlike its brother, the CUSL2, this motherboard does not have an AGP Pro slot. But only a few AGP Pro cards (although I've never actually seen one before) are available on the market so it's of limited use. What the AGP Pro does is supplies more voltage to the AGP card.

AGP Pro Slot?

The four USB ports are a new feature because the two ports on many other motherboards are seriously lacking. I have two USB devices installed in my system and I have already used up both of the available USB ports in my old ABIT BX6-2.

In The Box

The box contained the motherboard, a 122-page manual, a CD packed with drivers and software, an UltraDMA66 cable, a normal IDE cable, a floppy cable, a USB card for the two additional ports to be plugged inon the motherboard and even an ASUS sticker. The manual is very well written and easy to understand.

Some of the computer related terms like SCSI and IDE are explained in the glossary section of the manual. And if you somehow lose your manual, you can always download the manual in PDF format from their website.

The software bundled with the motherboard are :-

  • Intel i815 driver files
  • Intel LDCM V6.10
  • Cyberlink Video & Audio Applications
  • Yamaha S-YXG-50 Rev V3.13.04
  • 3Com 3C920 LAN Driver (not applicable for this board)
  • Adaptec 7899 SCSI (not applicable for this board)
