How To Configure Your Explorer Shortcut

 






Different Directory As Root With Folders Bar
  1. Right-click on the Windows Explorer shortcut and select Properties.
     
  2. The following screen pops up :-

  1. In the Target box, add /e,/root,directory path. In this example, the Adrian's Rojak Pot directory on drive F: is selected. (as shown below)

  1. Now, click OK and then try out the shortcut.
     
  2. Windows Explorer should now show the contents of the directory F:\Adrian's Rojak Pot and its subdirectories with the folders bar visible on the left.

Notes
  • You can choose to use a very deep directory like F:\dir1\dir2\dir3\dir4\.
     
  • Remember to add a comma before each extra command. In this example, a comma is added before the /root command and the directory path.
     
  • Note that if you set a particular directory as the root directory, Windows Explorer won't allow you to access any parent directories and their subdirectories. You can still access all subdirectories under the directory set as root.
     
  • This is useful to restrict novice users to certain directories. Of course, if they can still access the rest of the hard disk using My Computer so don't rely on this to protect your sensitive data from prying eyes.
