Command Prompt In Any Directory

A Command Prompt Anywhere You Want

The command prompt is a useful tool but it can be a real pain to navigate through the many directories in the hard disk with the command prompt. By default, the DOS prompt opens up in the root directory of your system partition.

That's a good place to start but imagine trying to use the DOS prompt to go to a deep directory like  E:\Temp\Downloads\Drivers\Video\NVIDIA\! Phew, now that's a lot of work!

Larry Yuan, Aaron M. Johnson, Alan Belanger and Matt have kindly sent me solutions to this problem. Here's how you can get the command prompt to appear in any directory you want... instantly!

  • Click here for the Registry Fix method!
For steps on how to undo this method, click here!

  • Click here for the Folders Option method!
For steps on how to undo this method, click here!

Although both methods work equally well, the Registry Fix method might be easier to implement. Check both of them out before you decide which you want to use.
