For PS/2 Mouse
- Go to the Control Panel and select Mouse.

- This brings up the Mouse Properties page.

- Now, move the slider for the pointer speed back to normal
(mid-point). That will return you the original accuracy of your
mouse.

- To obtain a speed boost that won't sap your mouse's accuracy,
you can try increasing the acceleration of the pointer. Set it
to High for highest pointer acceleration.

- The changes are effected on-the-fly but click OK to
finalize the changes.
- You can further boost the accuracy and sensitivity of your
mouse by going to the Device Manager and accessing the
properties page of your PS/2 mouse.

- In the PS/2 mouse properties page, go to the Advanced
Settings tab.

- To boost the sensitivity of your mouse, just increase the
sample rate. The higher the sample rate, the more accurate and
sensitive your mouse will become.
- The default sample rate is 60 reports / second (Hz) but in the
case of the mouse in use, Windows 2000 allowed the adjustment of
the sample rate in steps of 10 reports / second (Hz) up to 100
reports / second (Hz).
That's it! You have just boosted both your mouse's accuracy and its pointer speed as well.
