How To Make Your Mouse More Accurate

For PS/2 Mouse
  1. Go to the Control Panel and select Mouse.

  1. This brings up the Mouse Properties page.

  1. Now, move the slider for the pointer speed back to normal (mid-point). That will return you the original accuracy of your mouse.

  1. To obtain a speed boost that won't sap your mouse's accuracy, you can try increasing the acceleration of the pointer. Set it to High for highest pointer acceleration.

  1. The changes are effected on-the-fly but click OK to finalize the changes.

  2. You can further boost the accuracy and sensitivity of your mouse by going to the Device Manager and accessing the properties page of your PS/2 mouse.

  1. In the PS/2 mouse properties page, go to the Advanced Settings tab.

  1. To boost the sensitivity of your mouse, just increase the sample rate. The higher the sample rate, the more accurate and sensitive your mouse will become.

  2. The default sample rate is 60 reports / second (Hz) but in the case of the mouse in use, Windows 2000 allowed the adjustment of the sample rate in steps of 10 reports / second (Hz) up to 100 reports / second (Hz).

That's it! You have just boosted both your mouse's accuracy and its pointer speed as well.
