The Casio Cassiopeia E-125

The Casio E-125 is one of the best Pocket PCs available today. It comes with a fast processor, 32MB of RAM, an excellent TFT touch screen, great design and even a Type II CompactFlash slot built in!

However, the Compaq iPAQ now poses a formidable challenge with its more powerful processor. In fact, Pocket PC users now have to choose between the E-125 with its excellent display but slower processor or the iPAQ with its fast processor but poorer display.

It's a tough choice that many have had to make. The E-125's excellent HAST touch screen may be really enticing but so is the iPAQ's powerful processor. This has led many to settle for the iPAQ's poorer display just to get the speed advantage. Luckily for Cassiopeia fans however, recent developments may now alleviate the E-125's performance issues and make it a more attractive option than it currently is. How?

Simple! By overclocking the E-125's processor! Thanks to the efforts of several intrepid Cassiopeia users, there's now a way to overclock the 150MHz Vr4122 processor to 180MHz or even 200MHz! Unfortunately, overclocking the Casio E-125 isn't as simple as selecting a speed grade using a software utility. You will actually need to open up the E-125 and make one or two conductive links on the PCB inside with a pencil. Note that this will void your E-125's warranty!

So now, you are probably wondering whether it's actually worth the risk. To answer that, let's check out just how much faster the overclocked E-125 will be.
