It was rather uncomfortable to wear, being rather
large, heavy and boxy. The nose rest was made of rubber
foam and couldn't really keep the glasses in place. In
fact, it had a tendency to slide down my nose! Only the
ear loop kept it in place as it hung precariously over the
tip of my nose. After a while, I got used to the feeling
although there was always the nagging feeling that it
would fall off every time I moved a little.
Looking at Racer 2's screen, I noted that the VR
glasses added a lot of depth to the image. Everything you
thought looked 3D appeared even more 3D-like with the
glasses on. Of course, the image must be modified to work
with the glasses. BTW, you shouldn't use the glasses off the
monitor screen. I tried looking around with the glasses on
and felt a little giddy and disoriented after a while.
In addition, the glasses also caused me to feel as if I was hovering just a few
millimeters off the ground. I didn't feel l was driving a
car. Rather, I felt like I was on a skateboard hurtling
down the road with my eyes right next to the ground. In
other words, while it improved the sense of depth, it
somehow decreased the sense of height! This was
especially apparent at the bottom half of the
screen.
