Second Interim BOG Release!         01:15 AM MYT     Adrian Wong

Yup! This is the second interim release of the new Revision 7 BIOS Optimization Guide! Again, because this is quite a massive undertaking, it will take some time for me to get the entire Revision 7 guide up in full. So, I will be posting Interim Releases over the next few weeks. If you need to read about the BIOS features that are not yet covered, the old BIOS Optimization Guide is still there for your perusal.

So, have fun and keep checking back for more interim releases of the new Revision 7 BIOS Optimization Guide!

Fujitsu Rulez!         00:55 AM MYT     Adrian Wong

Recently, we had the opportunity to check out the mini-notebooks from Sony and Fujitsu. Fuh... they are really neat! More portable and longer lasting than regular laptops, these mini-notebooks are, IMHO, the ideal tool for the true mobile user. Of course, I can't afford one yet but that doesn't stop me from salivating over them! Heheh...

Incidentally, there's an offer going on locally for the Fujitsu LifeBook P-1030 mini-notebook. If you buy the P-1030 this month, you will get a free external USB CD-ROM drive! All in all, the promo package costs RM 4,888. Not a bad deal...

Of course, Fujitsu just released the new LifeBook models - the P-1032 and P-1035. Both boast a new feature - a touchscreen! Yes! The new Fujitsu LifeBooks come with a touchscreen that allows you to write, point and click using a stylus! Just like a Pocket PC or Tablet PC... Man... isn't that a killer feature? Heheh... If that's not enough, the P-1035 comes with built-in wireless LAN capability...

If you think these babies don't have enough crunching power to do serious work, they come with a 700MHz Transmeta Crusoe processor which is roughly equivalent in performance to a 600MHz Intel Celeron. Without the Celeron's power requirements and heat output, of course! And they come with a XGA (1024 x 600) TFT display, 128MB of RAM and a 20GB hard disk! Now, that's enough to do some serious work...

If a mini-notebook doesn't interest you, how about what looks like the sleekest Pocket PC to debut? Fujitsu is really on a roll here. They have just announced the brand new Fujitsu Pocket LOOX! As the name suggests, the Pocket LOOX certainly has the looks. Personally, I think it's the best looking Pocket PC so far! Take a look and you will see what I mean!

Now, isn't that sleek or what??? It puts all the other Pocket PCs to shame! Specs-wise, it's no slouch. It will come with the new Intel XScale processor (PXA250), 64MB of RAM, a CompactFlash Type II slot, a SD slot and Bluetooth 1.1 capability! Heck... isn't that fantastic???

If anyone's thinking of buying me a birthday present, you know just what to get! Heheh... A Fujitsu P-1035 LifeBook and a Fujitsu Pocket LOOX! ;)

Relaunch!         00:25 AM MYT     Adrian Wong

What a great year... Just two days after I registered www.rojak-pot.com (back with a dash!), Register.com simply cut off the domain without any prior warning. The reason that they gave was that it had been brought to their attention that "the domain may have been registered via an unauthorized charge". Translation = You registered that domain using a stolen credit card, you thief!

Well, heck, why would I steal my own credit card??? I called VISA up and they confirmed that they had already approved the transaction and had no idea why Register.com would do such a thing. Naturally, I messaged Register.com several times regarding this problem. Unfortunately, they didn't think it worth their time to get back to me quite so soon.

It's almost two weeks now since the www.rojak-pot.com domain got cut off. I got tired of being ignored by Register.com and so I registered www.rojakpot.net with www.nerraw.net. Not only is it much cheaper (RM 60 or slightly less than USD 16 per year), the guys at Nerraw.net work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And their service is a world of difference compared to Register.com. They are friendly and efficient. If you are in the market for a new domain, I recommend you check out Nerraw.net.

So, ARP's back for real now with the domain www.rojakpot.net. The old domains www.rojakpot.com and www.adriansrojakpot.com have still not been transferred back to us. For some reason, no one has been able to contact Crowz. If anyone of you know Crowz personally, please help us get in touch with him. And we would appreciate any help you can give us in spreading the word about ARP's new domain. Thanks! :D

New BOG!          01:35 AM MYT     Adrian Wong

Yes! I've been busy working on a new revision of the BIOS Optimization Guide! This new revision will have better accessibility because each BIOS feature covered will have its own page. This will allow you to search for and access the BIOS feature you want quickly.

In addition, I have taken the time to rewrite each and every BIOS feature description and recommendations. Each BIOS feature should now have much better explanations and more details. If the details are too much for you, just skip to the bottom for my recommendations. :)

Incidentally, because this is quite a massive undertaking, it will take some time for me to get the entire Revision 7 guide up in full.

Plagiarism          01:15 AM MYT     Adrian Wong

Recently, while I was surfing the Net, I came across a BIOS guide that looked suspiciously like it was translated directly from the BIOS Optimization Guide. I investigated further and true enough, it was a direct translation of my guide. I then ran a quick check on www.google.com and to my horror, I found another 4 sites plagiarising the BIOS Optimization Guide!

This may seem like nothing really important but the BIOS Optimization Guide has been ripped off so many times that it's getting really, really tiresome. :(

Here are the five plagiarized BIOS guides that I found :-

http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/reference/bios.htm (removed already)
http://vodka.webprovider.com/bios2/index.htm
http://www.computer-inside.bbk.org/Bios.htm
http://www.chez.com/chezmonsieurpin/OPTIMATERIEL/optimisation_avancee.htm
http://fox2k.net/2ktweaks/bios_settings.htm

UK Tech Support have already removed their BIOS Guide but the others have yet to reply to my e-mails. Well, I hope they will remove the guides soon.

Mail Server Still Out          00:50 AM MYT     Adrian Wong

Oh yeah... forgot to mention... the mail server I'm using has been refusing to send out any e-mails for the past 4-5 weeks now. It still won't allow me to send out any e-mails. That prevents me from replying most of the e-mails I get. Sorry.

Back Again!          00:10 AM MYT     Adrian Wong

Finally, after almost two months out of action, Adrian's Rojak Pot is back on its feet again! We are still unable to get our domains www.rojakpot.com and www.adriansrojakpot.com back from Crowz yet. So, I registered www.rojak-pot.com and voila, we are back in business! :)

Everyone, please do us a big favour and spread the word that we are now back online with the domain www.rojak-pot.com. I will try to get www.rojakpot.com and www.adriansrojakpot.com back but for now, www.rojak-pot.com should work just fine. Thanks!
