My friend's US Robotics 56K Sportster Voice modem died from an electronic heart
attack. So, I took the opportunity to crack open his modem and scan the innards. Check
them out! :)
Here's what you can see after cracking open the top cover.
Removed the bottom casing and what do we have here? Just a green PCB
with several capacitors
and surface mounted components.
I could be wrong but I believe this is the modem's internal speaker
(the ones that warbles while connecting to another modem)
And this is the minuscule microphone that comes with the USR 56K
Sportster Voice modem.
