Innards Of A Teac CD-ROM

While trying to repair a malfunctioning Teac 24X CD-ROM, I decided to take some shots of the innards. There wasn't much to look at but see for yourself

This is what you see when you open up the CD-ROM's casing. The read head slides up and down on a bar as the motor turns the spiral shaft.

The shiny plate with a black ring around it is the drive mechanism which holds the CD and spins it. Incidentally, this particular one has a magnetic center which, working in tandem with a plastic covered metal plate, holds the CD tightly while spinning it.
